It all started at age 2!
I came across this interesting story on a 16-year old boy, Andrew Hsu, who just graduated with three degrees (neurobiology, biochemistry and chemistry) from the University of Washington. His dad says his intellectual curiosity began at the age of 2 when, you guessed it, he started building robots from LEGO bricks and teaching himself to read!! Hsu’s attending Stanford med school next year, and hopes to find treatments to neurological disorders one day.

What a camp!
Talk about a cool summer camp! Play-Well TEKnologies provides classes, workshops, summer camps and even parties to foster creativity in children. One summer camp class asks kids to design and build machines powered by alternate energy sources. “Race solar cars, build a wind-powered electrical generation facility, enter the human powered vehicle competition, and invent a machine powered by stored elastic strain energy.” Now that’s what I call creative! Where was this camp when I was a kid?

It’s never too late to learn from LEGO Toys!
It’s not just students who are learning with LEGO bricks in this Boston classroom, teachers are using bricks too! Check out this story that shows how this toy is teaching deaf children about technology and improving a retired couple’s sign language skills.
